T:We know that Song Qingling is a famous person,a woman of achievement. Do you know any other women of

achievement?

T:According to the title and the pictures,guess what the passage talks about.

T:As we know,the passage is to introduce two women,Song Qingling and Elizabeth Fry. They are the famouswomen who have achieved great success.

Ⅲ. While-reading

T:Now I’d like you to skim the text and answer the question. What did Song Qingling do? What did Elizabeth Fry do? You can discuss the questions in group in the aspects of nationality,occupation and achievement.Who would like to answer the question? Hands up if you can.

T:Song Qingling was a great Chinese woman. She works as a teacher,and she supported the Communist Party7and attended various welfare activities. As for Elizabeth Fry,she is English,and a Quaker as well. She devoted herself to improving prison conditions and building the prison school.

T:In the second sentence,“founder of the Republic of China”is a apposition. It means the same person withDr Sun Yet-sen.

T:Now work in pairs. Share your opinions on your favorite hero that you are familiar with. You can read thisquestionnaire and think about your answers. Who is your hero? What has he / she done? What have you learnedfrom your hero?
