Text 2

原文:There is pressure for change from within the profession, but opponents of change among the regulators insist that keeping outsiders out of a law firm isolates lawyers from the pressure to make money rather than serve clients ethically.

1. from within: by the people who belong to an organization and not by people from outside it 从内部

If things are to change, the company must be reformed from within.

2. insist [intransitive, transitive] to state clearly that something is true, especially when other people do not believe you 坚持说;固执己见

insist (that)… He insisted (that) he was innocent.

3. isolate vt. to separate somebody/something physically or socially from other people or things(使)隔离,孤立,脱离

isolate somebody/yourself/something Patients with the disease should be isolated.

4. serve [transitive, intransitive] serve (somebody) (especially British English) to help a customer or sell them something in a shop

Are you being served?

5. ethical a. morally correct or acceptable

it is ethical to do something Is it ethical to keep animals in zoos?

2. opponents of change

3. keeping outsiders out of a law firm isolates lawyers一句,主语是keeping,谓语是isolates,宾语是lawyersfrom做状语。

4. isolates lawyers from the pressure to make money rather than serve clients ethically,
